Welcome! We know you are excited about applying to graduate and are eager to get started. Please read the information below and follow the instructions carefully.
Where to start:
Meet with your major academic advisor to review your academic record and determine the term in which you will be completing your final degree requirements.
Submitting your Application for Graduation:
The following forms must be completed and turned in together at the Campus Service Center within the appropriate deadline period in order to be considered a candidate for Graduation:
1. Application for Graduation
2. Department Learning Plan
You will be notified by your department if other arrangements for applying to graduate have been made with the Office of the Registrar.
Fees are required and may be paid online, by mail or in person at the Campus Service Center when submitting the application.
All graduation forms must be typed and have original signatures. Photocopies and handwritten graduation forms will not be accepted
What to Expect After Applying to Graduate:
During the term in which you have applied to graduate, the Graduation Counselor will notify your department of any outstanding degree requirements. Your department will contact you with this information.
In addition to all major course requirements, the Graduation Counselor will also check for the following:
1. Continuous Enrollment
2. All CSU/CSUMB GPA, unit and additional degree requirements
3. Terms you attained Classified Standing and Advanced to Candidacy
Making changes to major requirements after you have applied to graduate:
After you have applied to graduate and it is determined that you have to take an alternate course for your major, you will be required to submit a signed Substitution Form to the Campus Service Center.
Changing Your Graduation Date:
If you are required to change your graduation date to a future term, you will need to submit a new Application for Graduation to the Campus Service Center indicating your final semester.
The Final Degree Check:
At the end of the term in which you have applied to graduate, a final review of your academic record will be completed.
If ALL degree requirements have been met: Your degree will be awarded.
If ALL degree requirements have NOT been met: You will be notified via CSUMB email of any outstanding degree requirements with further instructions. It is recommended that you contact your Graduation Counselor with any questions upon receipt of this notice.
Diploma:
Diplomas are mailed approximately 4 months after the end of the term.
Your degree and major will be reflected on the diploma.
